Buhari Sympathizes With Saudi Arabia Over Oil Attack, Says Nigeria Was Once a Victim

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his solidarity and sympathy with the government of Saudi Arabia over the recent attack on its oil facilities. This was made public through his Senior Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.

There was a recent attack on oil installations in Saudi Arabia, the attack was suspected to have been carried out by Iran forces. The attack according to sources have cut the Kingdoms oil supply ability by half.

Saudi Arabia and its ally the United States of America have shared a lot in common because of the oil potential of the Kingdom. America has always considered Saudi Arabia in its foreign policy despite the high rate of human rights violations against minorities in the kingdom and Saudi Arabia also maintains America's interest in the region.

Some suspected enemies have launched a drone attack on a crude oil refinery in Saudi Arabia one of the world’s largest producer and exporter of crude oil.

The news not only bothered the oil-rich kingdom but also its ally in America who were concerned about matters that affect the kingdom and its economy.

Nigeria has a good foreign relationship with Saudi Arabia not just because its citizens travel to the kingdom for Hajj but also because they are partners in the global oil market. In his statement, Buhari stated that Nigeria has also suffered similar attacks in the oil rich Niger Delta and that such actions will only bring suffering to the people and will not achieve its political aim.

Saudi Arabia is a member of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) that regulates the prices of crude oil globally, a body to which Nigeria also belongs.
