The Rivers State chapter of the Labor Party has given the Rivers State governor Ezenwo Nyesom Wike a 7 days ultimatum to setup a cabinet and begin activities of governance for the good of the people of the state.
This was made known by the chairman of the Labor Party in Rivers State Prince Reuben. He lamented the delay of the governor to constitute his cabinet and the effect it has had on the people of the state.
The party claims that despite their grievances against how Wike was re-elected for a second term, they have withdrawn their case from the court and are ready to give the governor the needed support to move the state forward.
Since the inception of his second term about four months ago, the Rivers State government has failed to constitute a cabinet raising questions as to how he plans to carry out his second term.
The party threatened that if the governor fails to constitute a cabinet in 7 days they will mobilize civil society groups and other stakeholders to protest against the governor.
Governor Wike who has earned the nickname "Mr Project" had earlier assured the people of Rivers State that he will continue the good works that he began during his first tenure as governor.
While he has not given any clue on the delay in constituting his cabinet, observers think that it may be a political game ahead of the 2023 elections.
