NECO To Release The Results Of 30,000 Indebted Students In Niger State.

The National Examination Council (NECO) is set to release the results of candidates from Niger state after the governor Abubakar Sani Bello released billions of naira to pay the debt.

The Press secretary to the Niger State governor Mrs. Mary Noel Berge had announced that the government of Niger state had reached an agreement with NECO for the release of seized results.

The national examination body had refused to release the NECO results of students whose state failed to pay their fees.

Some Nigerian state has taken the burden of helping secondary school pupils pay their examination fee. The government paid the fee on behalf of the students to NECO as a way of helping the parents and the education of their children.

But following the economic challenges that most states encountered during the 2016 economic recession, Niger state and some other states were unable to pay the fees and the examination body seized the results of candidates who sat for the exam in the affected states.

The seizure of the results meant that the students may not be able to proceed to higher learning.

It was agreed that the Niger state government will pay a certain amount monthly to the examination body until all the outstanding fees are paid.
