The Nigerian Senate has defended its decision to purchase new SUVs for all its members to enable them to carry out their functions effectively.
The Senators have been on the defense since news of their plan to buy SUV. Senators do oversight functions which may involve traveling to various places for fact-finding.
They also have to satisfy their constituents who elected them by carrying out developmental projects. So, their responsibilities are numerous but not fully known to the public.
As such the Senate is quite disappointed with Nigerians for condemning its demand for SUVs for all its members.
The Senator Ahmed Lawan led senate may have the masses at heart, but they will not compromise their duties and responsibilities for fear of being criticized. Certainly, they will proceed with the plan which has the backing of all the Senators irrespective of their party and group affiliations.
