The Peoples Democratic Party has formally taken its appeal to the supreme court after it lost to President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT).
The tribunal had struck out the petitions of the PDP and its candidate Alh Atiku Abubakar seeking to nullify the election of President Muhammadu Buhari because he is not qualified to have contested the election in the first place.
Also, the PDP claims that the 2019 general election was rigged in his favor.
They are approaching the supreme court to correct what they claim to be the errors of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal which upheld Buhari's election and struck out the PDP’s petitions for lacking in merit.
The tribunal on September 11 had unanimously upheld the election of Muhammadu Buhari as the president of Nigeria and dismissed the petitions of the PDP and its candidate Atiku Abubakar.
