Sowore – Amnesty International Demands Sowore’s Release

The decision of the Buhari government to charge Sowore with treason, a serious offense to the Nigerian state has received wide condemnation from across the country.

Ven the renowned playwright and Nobel Laurette Prof Wole Soyinka have condemned the action of the federal government of Nigeria against the convener of the Coalition for Revelation who had planned a Revolution Now protest across the country.

Amnesty International an international NGO that is working against corruption and promoting human rights has also added heir voice for the government to release Omoyele Sowore.

The group shared their position on the issue on their official twitter handle, condemning the Nigerian government for the arrest and plans to charge Sowore for treason.

With this, it is expected that more international organizations will join the call for his release.

Sowore was arrested about two months ago after planning a protest which the government feared was aimed at overthrowing Buhari.

He is still in detention and the government has charged him to court for treason through the Directorate of State Security (DSS)..
