A vocal member of the Nigerian House of Representatives has reacted to the ongoing controversy surrounding the new Value added Tax soon to be imposed by the federal government through the CBN.
On the floor of the lower house, Hon Honorable Kazaure Gudaji from Jigawa State called the Central Bank of Nigeria “Armed Robbers” for trying to impoverish Nigerians by increasing charges on financial transactions.
The member objected to the policy because it was abrupt and did not consider due consultations at a time when many Nigerians are wallowing in poverty.
While negating the position of the Apex Bank on the immense benefit of having a cashless economy through the VAT implementation, Kazaure argues that the policy should have been taken through series of dialogue and consultation before a date is set for its implementation.
Therefore, he joined well-meaning Nigerian and other honorable members of the House of Representative s to condemn the policy and call for its suspension.
