The Lagos state police command has rescued 19 pregnant ladies from a baby factory that is located in the Ikotun area of Lagos state. It was alleged that the victims are taken to the shelter to give birth to their babies which are then taken from them.
Baby factories are usually illegal shelters or homes that are made to get children for illicit purposes. The children born to baby factories are sometimes sold at certain prices or put up for illegal adoption.
The young women who give birth to these babies ate kept in captivity to continue to produce children. The police in Lagos state is still investigating the matter and has rescued the 19 pregnant ladies ages 15-28 from the baby factory.
The increasing rate of incidences of baby factories has sparked outrage from Nigerians, many of who are calling on the government to carry out a more decisive action towards ending the scourge.
