In a democracy, people's power cannot be underestimated. The people pf Kgibstate has on many occasions called on the state government to pay up outstanding months of salaries owed them to no avail.
The governor in response carried out a series of screening exercises which took many months. In the process, many workers died and others became poor.
A few years after, governor Bello is out there campaigning for reelection and the citizens have risen as kings. But Bello has presented his defense claiming that he was trying to sanitize the public service and place the qualified workers under good working conditions.
It was reported that Bello had promised workers that if re-elected for a second term, he will not owe salaries but will pay them promptly.
Many of the workers who felt beaten once may not want to give him another chance but it is politics after all. Governor Bello has the power of incumbency and has even gotten the blessing of many royal fathers in the state.
Now, not only Governor Bello but all his supporters are calling on the affected workers to forget the past and work for his reelection to Lugard house come November 2019.
