The candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) Festus Awara
has accepted the verdict of the Supreme Court which upheld the election of
Governor Wike of Rivers State.
According to Awara some members of his party and
those who seemed to have worked for him were allies of governor Wike who
sabotaged his case at the governorship tribunal and also at the supreme court.
He also admitted that his candidature was adopted by
the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi
Amaechi.
Awara won some local governments in Rivers state but
failed to win the election after INEC declared Wike as the duly elected
candidate.
In his submissions to the tribunal, he claimed that
the result which favored governor Nyespom Wike was doctored by INEC, but the
court claimed that his claims were not substantiated.
