2019 Governorship Election: Awara Loses To Wike At Tribunal

The candidate of the African Action Alliance (AAC) popularly known as Awara has lost his bid to sack governor Wike at the tribunal. Awara had challenged the victory of Governor Nyesom Wike at the 2019 governorship election in Rivers state.
He claimed that Nyesom Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had colluded with INEC to rig the governorship election in the state. According to Awara, he was winning with a majority of the votes before INEC suspended the election and later rigged the election in favor of Nyesom Wike.

Awara of the AAC and a candidate of the ADP had gone to court to challenge the declaration of Nyesom Wike as the winner of the Rivers state governorship election.

Awara specifically asked the court to declare him the winner of the election having scored the highest number of lawful votes, but the tribunal dismissed his petition in its entirety for failing to prove the allegations against the PDP candidate and INEC.
