The name Ekweremadu in recent times has become synonymous with a video that went viral some months ago. The video shows Ekweremadu being harassed and beaten up by mobs suspected to be members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra.
But now he is in the news for good as the appeal court has upheld his election into the Nigerian senate and also charged the appellant N50,000 for advancing an appeal which lacked merit.
The senator was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to represent Enugu West senatorial district in the Nigerian senate.
Ibekaku Nwagu the woman who contested against Senator Ike Ekweremadu had gone to court to challenge the electoral victory of the senator before the tribunal and lost.
She proceeded to the appeal court and met a shocking defeat. The Senate seat of senator Ike Ekweremadu remains intact.
