Reno Omokri an aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of making false claims in his speech delivered on the occasion of Nigeria's 59th Independence day anniversary.
In a widely publicized national address, Buhari listed achievements such as the degrading of Bokoharam, increase foreign reserves, a stable naira rate, infrastructure among others as the testimony that the country was on the right track.
Omokri noted that in reality, all the claims made by the president were false. He explained that the foreign reserves are baseless achievement because at the same time the foreign debt profile of Nigeria has risen drastically.
He also made startling revelations that about 8 local governments are currently being controlled by terrorists in the Northeast of Nigeria.
Despite the acclaimed poor performance, Nigerians had overwhelmingly renewed President Buhari's mandate for a second term and it is still a long way away from 2023.
Therefore, the president's call for all Nigerians to keep faith in his administration is sensible at this time.
