Since the emergence of Senator Ahmed Lawan as the Senate president of Nigeria, most people have concluded that his, would be a rubber stamp legislature. They have interpreted most actions and happenings in the senate to that bias.
Recently, the news was making the rounds of how the senate president shut out some journalists from covering budget defense which is ongoing in the national assembly.
They blamed it on Lawan's intention to accept whatever comes from the executive without question.
However, Lawan has cleared the air on the news. In line with democratic best practices, he refuted claims that journalists were harassed and driven out.
Rather, he maintained that they excused the journalists because sensitive national matters were being discussed.
