After
the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) was reported to
have announced that he is ready to return to Nigeria and face trial if certain
conditions especially his safety is guaranteed by the court, a judge who was in
charge of his case was also alleged to have described his request as
impossible.
Nnamdi
Kanu stated that he will only return and continue his trial if his bail is
reinforced and he is guaranteed safety.
That means that Nnamdi Kanu will attend
court meetings but will continue with his advocacy for Biafra.
However,
Justice Nyako maintained that security in Nigeria is a problem and that even
the judges are at risk of abductions and attacks. She strongly opined that if
the leader of IPOB returns, the prison will be the only safest place for him.
