Minimum Wage- Nationwide Strike Looming

There is still a stalemate in the negotiations between the federal government of Nigeria and the organized labour.

The Nigerian Labour Congress has also sent official messages to its members in all states of Nigeria to join the nationwide strike which will hold as scheduled unless an agreement is reached with the government on the full implementation of the minimum wage.

The Chairman of the Osun state chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) Jacob Adekomi has confirmed that his chapter of the NLC has received letters directing them to join in the nationwide strike. He also confirmed that the Osun state chapter will join in the nationwide strike if an agreement is not reached.

The proposed nationwide strike is meant to force the government into making compromises and finding common ground with labour.
The looming industrial action is expected to cripple economic activities in Nigeria amidst harsh economic realities.
