Most NYSC Corp members have likely ignored the ongoing negotiations between the organized labour and the federal government of Nigeria over the implementation of the new minimum wage.
Workers in the civil service have been following the negotiations with keen interest because it concerns their welfare. They are also concerned because they are government employees who are certain of benefiting from the agreement.
For corp members, there have been unverified reports that they may benefit from the new minimum wage. However, most corps members are not interested in knowing the outcome of the negotiations.
This is because the government already commenced implementation for civil servants on some levels. Workers who are on level six and below have benefitted from the new wage and it looks like the allowance of corp members seems to be within that range.
