Nigerians Worry Over Insecurity In The Country

The spate of insecurity in Nigeria is worrisome not just because criminal activities have increased but because little or nothing is being done about it.

People are afraid of traveling in major high ways, talk less of hidden routes across the country over fears of kidnapping, armed robbery and banditry.

Calls made to government at all levels have not been taken seriously as attacks have continued unabated to the extent that payment of ransom to kidnappers have become a common thing in Nigeria.

Security agencies have also been trying to put the situation under control but to no avail.  There are fears that the situation may become worse if appropriate steps are not taken.

Social media has been a major platform for Nigerians from all works of life to express their anger over the state of insecurity. One notable Journalist Babajide Otitoju of Journalist hangout, describes the situation as worrisome.

Prominent persons in Nigeria such as Bishop Kukah and the Anglican church leader Most Rev Nicholas Okoh have called on the government to declare a state of emergency on security in Nigeria.
