Protest! Benue Motorcycle Riders March Against Tax Increase

The administration of Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state has imposed a tax on motorcycle riders in the state to help the state raise more revenue to meet up with its statutory responsibilities.
It was reported that the Benue state government had imposed a N5,500 tax on Motorcycle riders in Benue state. Following the report, motorcyclists across the state are protesting en masse against the new tax imposition and wanted it to be immediately abolished.

This is coming on the heels of attempts by the government and its agencies to seek to grow the nation's revenue through taxation.

To most common men, taxation in whatever form is a harsh and oppressive policy that is meant to impoverish the masses.

A motorcyclist had called for the abolition of the policy claiming that it will lead to an increase in transport fare and more hardships in the society.
Many of them think that the rich and wealthy of society should be taxed and not the common man that is just trying to survive.
