Whenever
there are hardship and drastic high costs of food in society, the government
usually takes all the blames for making the masses pass through such
difficulty.
At a time of scarcity and
inflation, Nigerians have been criticizing the government for closing the
borders and banning the importation of rice which used to be a very common
commodity in Nigeria.
A bag of rice now sells for above
N20,000 and the masses are feeling the heat but not everyone is unhappy about
the situation.
Farmers in Crossrivers State have
thanked the federal government of Nigeria for closing the borders and banning
the importation of rice to boost local production.
Since the law was enforced, their
patronage has skyrocketed and their profit has increased though at the expense
of the masses who can no longer afford the commodity.
