The
governorship election in Kogi state is just around the corner and what matters
to most candidates at this time is the traditional rulers.
Although they won't be casting their votes at polling stations, who they
choose as their preferred candidate matters at this point.
When Governor Yahaya Bello was
planning to launch his second term bid he ensured that he arranged a meeting
with President Buhari which had the traditional ruler of the dominant Kogi east
(Igala king) in attendance among others.
The delegation probably placated
the All Progressives Congress to forgive Bello all his trespasses and anoint
him for a second term in office. Many had feared that Governor Bello could get
the Ambode treatment.
Mindful of this fact, the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate Engr Musa Wada has also visited the
palace of the Maigari of Lokoja shortly after officially flagging off his
campaign.
The presence of Senator Dino
Melaye in the delegation at the Maigeri’s palace was also well appreciated by
PDP faithful. It is generally believed that in the coming days only the
traditional rulers can help change the game against or in favor of any of the
candidates.
