After the inferno that
was brought about when a petrol tanker spilled its contents and caught fire in
Anambra state a few weeks ago, the government has decided to harken to the
yearnings of the people by enacting a law.
When the incident happened, the governor of the state sympathized with
the people and the victims of the incident who are still counting their losses.
Many people called for a decisive action to curb any future reoccurrence and
then there was a long wait.
Some concluded that the delayed response of the government in finding a
lasting solution to the menace was just part of politics which has kept the
country far behind.
In more advanced countries, highly inflammable are transported through a
special route and not through residential areas so many Nigerians who heard
about the incident wished they were in a better country.
But the government of Anambra state has positively responded through his
commissioner for information that the government has banned the movement of
petroleum and fuel tankers during the day.
