Abdulraheed Maina was
once entrusted with the responsibility of reforming the pension industry in
Nigeria. He headed the committee set up by the former President Goodluck
Jonathan and was working with other members to reform the pension industry.
Today, he is being charged with money laundering by the Economic and
Financial Crimes omission (EFCC) for laundering public funds from a commission
that he was supposed to reform. Maina was sacked and placed under investigation
along with others believed to be connected with the crime.
Luck shown on Maina when the Buhari administration came on board. E was
reinstated and even given a promotion by loyalists of President Buhari.
However, his joy was short-lived when public outcry made the government to
sack him and beamed a fresh searchlight on his case. Maina is currently facing
trial and his family members want the court to consider his ill health which
has placed him in a wheelchair.
