The
President of the Nigerian senate has shown Nigerians that he is not perturbed
by the name-calling going on in the public space. Senator Ahmed Lawan has been
nicknamed as the rubber stamp senate president who would always say yes to
whatever the executive says.
Ahmed has finally
explained why his senate will always endorse anything brought by the executive
under Buhari.
He stated that
President Buhari has the interest of Nigerians at heart so whatever the
president brings to the National Assembly will be passed by the senate under
him.
Public criticisms of
the senate under Senator Ahmed Lawan have skyrocketed since the introduction of
the hate-speech bill which prescribed death by hanging to anyone convicted of
hate speech in Nigeria.
Lawan became the senate
president by the endorsement and backing of the presidency and members of the
ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He may always do their bidding.
