As the governorship
election draws to a close, residents of Ajaokuta in Kogi state have narrated
how agents allegedly working for the All Progressives Congress (APC) lured
voters with the sum of N2000 each to vote for their preferred candidate.
The agents at about
midday moved from house to house seeking those who are yet to cast their ballot
to vote for APC.
One resident on the
condition of anonymity explained that many other residents collected the money
and trooped to the polling units to sell their votes.
Incidents of
vote-buying in the Kogi state governorship election which took place unchecked
proved that nothing much has been achieved by the Independent National
Electoral Commission (INEC) and the anti-corruption agencies.
