Governor Bello Matawalle the governor of Zamfara state has stated that he would not pay the pension of former governors of the state because state workers were been owed areas of unpaid pension inherited from Yari’s administration.
A former governor of Zamfara state Abdulazeez Yari has written to the executive governor of the state demanding the payment of his pension.
The letter was warmly received until the content of the pension was investigated to imply about N10million monthly, new cars every four years, state-funded health care for governors, deputies and their families, all-expense-paid trips abroad and many more.
Matawalle quickly influenced the state house of Assembly to repeal the pension for former governors bill hurriedly passed and signed into law under Yari’s administration.
