When
the late pontiff St Johnpaul II visited Nigeria, many people rightly said that
the world had come to Nigeria. In the photo published on Vatican news, the Pope
can be seen surrounded by tight security.
This brings to mind the
same issue in Nigeria which often comes up when Nigerian pastors appear in
heavy security.
Many people who
criticize these pastors may also have a word for the photo which has now gone
viral. What is good for the goose should also be good for the gender.
Being one of the most
powerful men on earth, Pope Francis rules over 1.2 billion Roman Catholics with
the exception fo some es5thern and other catholic churches.
He is also head of
state of the Vatican with all administrative powers that accompany it.
Seeing the poor a man
who stands for the poor in such tight security reminds many people of the
powerful influence of religion in the world today.
Thailand is a largely
Buddhist country and fears of Buddhist extremists may have motivated such tight
security on someone who cannot be caged from accessing people and feeling their
very situation.
