It is barely 48 hours
to the gubernatorial election in Kogi state and voters are not at ease. The
candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Natasha Akpoti seems to be the
most affected victim.
Ever since she gained victory at the court which ordered the
reinstatement of her name ion INEC ballot, Natasha and her supporters have face
harassments and intimidation from thugs allegedly loyal to Governor Yahaya
Bello.
Incidentally, Governor Bello and Natasha are from the same Kogi central.
The supporters of governor BVello do not want her to gain ground in the home of
the governor who doubles as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress
(APC).
Recently, after thugs attacked the SDP party secretariat in Lokoja, they
attacked the candidate at a stakeholder meeting organized by the Independent
National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Campaign vehicles and facilities destroyed by the thugs are trending
online media and many voters expect one of the most violent governorship
elections in the history of Kogi state.
