The Akwa Ibom State police command has arrested a retired Police inspector for physically assaulting his six years old daughter. The man inflicted injuries o the little girl, locked her up in their home and went out.
The case was reported to the police by concerned residents in the area. The matter also caught the attention of the Civil Liberty Organization, a Non-Governmental Organization promoting human rights.
The little girl Edidiong was said to have committed an unknown offense before her father descended on her.
The NGO decried the increased rate at which children are being abused in Nigeria and vowed to charge the man to court after investigations are concluded on the mater.
