Nigerians have almost got over the issues
about the indefinite closure of the country's borders and have begun adapting
to the resulting situation before the Scan news cartoon brought the issue back
to the limelight.
The cartoon seems to
be saying that the border closure has made Nigeria more valuable to its
neighbors and to other African countries at large.
In the cartoon which
has since gone viral, President Buhari was pictured sitting close to a gate
that was under lock and he was holding the keys in his hands.
Outside the gates are
skinny looking people, representing Nigerian neighbors who in the past were
benefiting from smuggling and illegal trade through the formerly porous borders
in Nigeria.
The cartoon also
sparked a debate among Nigerians on social media on whether the country was
better off with the border closure.
