A group of youths took to the streets after
the declaration of governor Yahaya Bello as the winner of the governorship election
to protest what they described as election rigging.
Observers such as
YIAGA Africa and a host of others called for the cancellation of the election
which looked more like warfare than an election.
e protesters carried
placards with inscriptions of various kinds condemning the electoral process as
fraudulent.
Meanwhile, while
pockets of protest rocked some areas, jubilation was going on in many parts of
the state. Te once downtrodden and oppressed looking Kogites who claimed that
they were owed several months of salaries by the governor disappeared as
enthusiastic Kogites trooped out in large numbers to celebrate Bello's victory.
