Many residents of the
Federal Capital Territory had resumed their normal activities after the public
holiday. Those who owned tricycles had also expected to go about their normal
routine but to their surprise, they learned that Tricycles were banned from
major roads in the Federal Capital Territory.
The ban was strictly
followed throughout the day and no tricycle was allowed to move on major road s
without being arrested.
Major junctions and
places where Tricycles (Keke) wait in large numbers for commuters were empty.
The reality of the ban was felt mainly by the commuters who had the plan to
reach their destinations using the tricycle.
The affected
tricyclists had protested to no avail. Up to the evening of Tuesday, members of
the task force deployed to ensure compliance with the new directive were still
parading major roads to ensure strict compliance.
