Former
president Olusegun Obasanjo has been a practical example of how Nigerian
leaders can remain relevant a years after leaving power. Many people are yet to
come to terms with the role of former leaders in a politically sensitive
country like Nigeria.
They must have perceived
the intentions of most former leaders as selfish and attempting to impose their
political sons and loyalists on the people.
Obasanjo had told
members of the congregation at a our Square Gospel hurch convention that he will
nto keep quiet about the trends of events in the country because Jesus will nto
keep quiet if he was living in Nigeria.
The former president is
known for criticizing ruling presidents through open letters. His letters first
dropped on former president Goodluck Jonathan who was eventually defeated in
the 2015 pools.
He wrote a similar letter
to Buhari but it did not make Buhari to lose the election in 2019.
He believes that Christians
should always speak and not keep quiet in times when the society deviates.
