While
celebrating his 77th birthday with some staff and his aides in Aso rock,
President Buhari told newsmen that democracy is too slow for his liking. Buhari
is serving his second term as president after winning reelection in the 2019
general election.
The presidents view
that democracy is too slow for his liking stem from his military background and
years as the former head of state. Buhari admitted that after forcefully taking
power in the 90s he sent corrupt public officers to Kirikiri.
He also stated that
those he arrested were later released and their looted wealth was restored to
them while he had his day in the same prison where he sent them.
Buhari assured
Nigerians that anyone who wishes to succeed him must work to earn the
confidence of the people and not expect him to foist them on Nigerians.
