When
it comes to tradition many people prefer to remain silent. Especially when it
has to do with the “gods”. In the African context, the gods are anything that
relates to the divine like Masquerades.
They include the
ancestors. Spirits, sacred objects and shrines that help in communion with the
gods. The photo above shows the exact conditions in which we can correctly
refer to the gods.
The two masquerades
were seen riding motorcycles probably trying to catch up with some ceremony or
ritual. This was the view of some Nigerians in reaction to the photo.
On second thought,
African masquerades carry out sacred rituals so they could not have dress up
from their houses.
Another set of
Nigerians believed that they were running away from an incident or were
returning to base after carrying out their ritual ceremonies.
