Google
Maps has become a popular feature for most drivers in Nigeria because it helps
them to find locations across major streets in the country. With Google maps,
people will no longer get lost.
But authorities in
Nigeria such as the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have outlawed the use of
google map while driving. It was observed that the use of the maps while
driving can cause distractions that may result in accidents.
So, while google maps
solve the problem of location for drivers, it causes another problem of
distraction because drivers use it while driving.
Any driver found using the google map while driving on Nigerian roads will be arrested according to a new directive from the FRSC.
In many parts of the world, Google maps are
used without any restrictions but the rate of road accidents in Nigeria may
have necessitated the need to limit the use of google maps.
