President
Buhari’s administration has faced criticism from the public for providing a low
budgetary allocation to education, unlike his predecessors. But his swift support for Unijos library renovation has shown his commitment to education.
The president has not
responded to some of the allegations but his actions on the fire that raised
the University of Jos(Unijos) library may have offered the best defense.
In 2016, news broke out
of a fire incident at the University of Js library which was destroyed by fire.
Libraries are home for
research works and books that cut across different fields of endeavor. In the
University of Jos Library, thousands of books were destroyed by the fire.
The infrastructure was
raised down. While many people offered comforting words and others tried to
ascertain the cause of the fire, the federal government of President Buhari
pledged to rebuild the Unijos library.
The latest developments
show that the University of Jos library has now been renovated and will be commissioned
by President Buhari soon.
