The
media has stopped reporting incidents of Xenophobic attacks in South-Africa
likely because the Nigerian government wanted the issue to go away. Not all
Nigerians were airlifted from SouthAfrica during the inferno as many remained
because of their means of livelihood.
However, reports have
started circulating about similar incidents of Xenophobia against Nigerians
living in Ghana which is also an Africa country.
He relationship between
Nigeria and Ghana dates back to the pre-colonial times when African leaders
struggled for independence.
During the
administration of Alh Shehu Shagari, it was alleged that government policy
forced Gnanianss who were doing business in Nigeria to live.
Fast-forward to 2019,
Nigerians have taken Ghana as a business hub due to their thriving economic
situation there but there are reports that Ghanaians have attacked shops and
businesses belonging to Nigerians in Ghana.
It is still not clear
if the incident can be described as Xenophobia but reports and images of the
incidents which are becoming prominent lately have continued to make
headlines.
