I
could not have committed the act in my right senses were the words of repentant
actress Etinosa just days after a video of her smoking and using the Bible as
her ashtray.
The video caused outrage
as many people cautioned the actress for disrespect9ng other people's beliefs.
To make matters worse, she even assured fans that she will desecrate the holy
Koran too.
The video which lasted
for minutes was later recanted by a sober-looking Etinosa who appeared
frightened and remorseful.
However, not everyone
bought into her story of not being in her right sense before doing that. Many
argue that she did it to become famous and to draw public attention.
What many people find
hard to understand was why the actress chose to use such a sensitive thing as
religion and holy books as a means of achieving that.
The public outcry and
condemnation that followed the viral video may have played a role in Etinosa
sudden remorse.
Reports say that she
came under heavy pressure to retract her statement from friends who feared that
she may be lynched by Christian or Muslim conservatives who are very active in
Nigeria.
