After suffering at the
hands of the Department of State Security (DSS), Omoyele Sowore was released. He
remained in the custody of the DSS for many months despite the bail granted by
competent courts in Nigeria, he was held in custody.
Many people still believe that it was the intervention of the American
government and the recent human rights ranking in which Nigeria performed
poorly that forced the Nigerian government to authorize his release.
It is barely 3 days after Sowore's release and sources say that he has
been nominated for a Prisoner of Conscience award in the United States of
America because he was imprisoned for calling for a revolution in Nigeria.
Sowore is the founder of Shara reporters an investigative journalism
company that throws lights on corruption issues and human rights.
